How to spot a scam listing before you book

Three simple habits avoid nearly every bad surprise. First, locate the approximate address on Google Street View before you pay: a very remote listing with no shops or visible street life nearby almost always explains an unusually low price — it's not a bargain, it's the location you're actually paying for. Second, read several recent reviews in detail rather than just the overall rating: look for specific mentions (noise, cleanliness, accuracy to the photos), not generic phrases.
